One of the best things about days out in West Sussex is the sheer number of possibilities that are waiting to be enjoyed. The county is home to bustling towns, quaint villages, iconic beaches, exciting activities and tranquil countryside. The beautiful Wildhams Wood falls into the latter category, and it’s the ideal spot for a lovely walk among the peace and quiet that will embrace you.
Wildhams Wood is located to the west of the county, just a handful of miles from the heart of Chichester. It offers an enjoyable four-kilometre walk that’s popular with dog owners, solo strollers and family groups. If you choose to go in the spring, and we highly recommend that you do, you’ll often be rewarded with the sight of beautiful carpets of bluebells. You’ll also find wild garlic growing here, giving the area a deliciously pleasant aroma.
There are some areas which can be used for a picnic, although many people prefer to head into the village of Stoughton to sample the delights of the local pub. The national nature reserve at Kingley Vale is also close by, and it’s also well worth a visit. This part of the county lends itself perfectly to the gentle art of truly getting away from it all.
