Some days out in East Sussex offer more than just an enjoyable experience for visitors, and Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare certainly fits into that category. As well as bringing you and your group some fun and excitement, it also gives you some of that all-important feel-good factor. The animals that you find here, and the journeys that they have undergone, are absolutely heartwarming.
Raystede is more than a dog’s home, more than a cat’s home and more than a bird sanctuary. Think all these and more, and that’s what Raystede is all about. If you’re looking to give an animal a new home, you’ll find dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ducks, geese, goats and sheep all waiting to find a brand-new family and a brand-new life.
It’s worth noting, however, that Raystede is also an excellent venue for an East Sussex day out in its own right. The sanctuary area offers 9.5 acres of glorious countryside, including two lakes, so it’s perfect for a peaceful stroll with the family, and dogs on leads are also welcome here.
Needless to say, some retail therapy can be a pleasant addition to any day out, and the shop at Raystede is something of a pet owner’s dream. Here you’ll find a great range of food for your four-legged and feathered friends, as well as all the accessories you might ever need. And for the humans, there’s a tempting selection of hot and cold food and drinks to be enjoyed at Café Raystede, so be sure to stop awhile and smell the coffee… and drink it, too!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Entry is free, but it is essential to book a ticket which you can do online.
