Pooh Corner

Ideal for: Families, Physically Impaired
Pooh Corner is situated on the edge of the Ashdown Forest in Hartfield. The café is the perfect stopping point for either the casual visitor or the diehard fan of A.A. Milne’s most famous bear and his friends.

East Sussex is home to a significantly diverse range of venues that make the perfect day out, but surely none of them can be quite as iconic as the delightful Pooh Corner. Situated on the edge of the fabulous Ashdown Forest in Hartfield, it’s the ideal spot for an enjoyable experience with all the family. And of course, the surrounding countryside is just right for those occasions when you need to be ‘busy doing nothing’.

Pooh Corner is home to an excellent gift shop and a charming tearoom, both of which, of course, are strongly linked to the wonderful Winnie the Pooh stories of A.A. Milne. Milne, along with his son Christopher Robin Milne, used to live at Cotchford Farm, less than a mile away. This idyllic corner of East Sussex is where characters such as Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Tigger and Pooh himself first began to develop, much to the delight of millions of children in the ensuing decades.

The tearoom offers a superb resting place after exploring the famous Hundred Acre Wood nearby, and of course after playing a game of Pooh-sticks at the famous bridge. For something a little more substantial, why not book in advance for an afternoon tea? And if you’d like to find out more about the world’s favourite little bear, make sure you head to the museum, otherwise known as the Pooh’seum, obviously.
