East Sussex is home to a wonderful range of venues that make the perfect day out, but surely none of them can be quite as iconic as the delightful Pooh Corner. Situated on the edge of Ashdown Forest in Hartfield, it’s the perfect spot for everyone's enjoyment including family and friends as well as any Winnie the Pooh bear enthusiasts. Nestled in a countryside that's is just right for those occasions when you need to be ‘busy doing nothing’.
Pooh Corner is home to an lovely gift shop and a charming tearoom, both of which are strongly linked to the wonderful Winnie the Pooh stories of A.A. Milne. Milne, along with his son Christopher Robin Milne, used to live at Cotchford Farm, less than a mile away. This idyllic corner of East Sussex is where characters such as Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Tigger and Pooh himself first began to develop, much to the delight of millions of children in the ensuing decades.
The tearoom offers a superb resting place after exploring the famous Hundred Acre Wood nearby, and of course after playing a game of Pooh-sticks at the famous bridge. For something a little more substantial, why not book in advance for an afternoon tea? And if you’d like to find out more about the world’s favourite little bear, make sure you head to the museum, otherwise known as the Pooh’seum, obviously.
