It’s always pleasing to discover a peaceful rural idyll that’s close to a bustling city, and that’s one of the reasons why the lovely Mayfield Lavender Farm and Shop has become such a popular attraction with visitors of all ages. Located in Banstead, yet just 15 miles from the very centre of London, it has everything you need for a dazzling day out with all the family.
Set amid 25 acres of rolling Surrey countryside, Mayfield has been wowing visitors since 2008, and it’s easy to see why. When the lavender is in bloom, usually from June through to August, this is a spectacular attraction that offers more photo opportunities than you can shake a selfie-stick at. The first thing you need to know about Mayfield Lavender Farm is that you just have to bring a phone or a camera with you on every single visit. You won’t want to miss out on these views!
Lovely long walks among the beautiful organic lavender are always a pleasure, and when you’re ready you can meander back to the café for some much-needed refreshments. Lavender cream teas are a particular favourite, of course, especially when enjoyed al fresco, and you might also want to sample their famous lavender cider. And if you’re keen to sample some retail therapy during your visit, you’ll love the gift shop, where you’ll find a number of lavender-related products.
