Cissbury Ring

Ideal for: Couples, Families, Solo Flyers
Go back in time to an important historical landmark and savour some truly spectacular views

Walking in the countryside is always an enjoyable experience, partly because it offers peace, fresh air and a deeper connection with nature. The landscape's beauty, the sounds of the birds and the scent of the flowers create a relaxing day out in Sussex right here at the fabulous Cissbury Ring. It also provides a break from daily stress, allowing you to unwind and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. It’s worth noting, however, that this feel-good factor is only part of the story.

Managed by the National Trust, Cissbury Ring is the largest hill fort in Sussex, and covers around 65 acres of the South Downs National Park. It’s to be found just north of Worthing in the village of Findon, within easy reach of Brighton, Arundel and Littlehampton. It’s a great place for long walks with the family, and the winds here make it the perfect location for kite-flying.

Cissbury Ring is around 5,000 years old, and it owes its existence to its highly strategic hilltop location. On a clear day, you can see right across to Brighton and beyond to the Isle of Wight. Keep an eye open for migratory birds here, as well as a great range of rare plants. Please note there are no public toilets in the area.
