Brooklands Museum

Ideal for: Families, Physically Impaired
Step back in time to the days of innovation, determination and record breaking on the site of the world’s first purpose-built race tracks. Brooklands Museum is a living tribute to the pathfinders of the past.

There’s so much to see and do at Brooklands Museum, much of which is centred on its fascinating history. This is a place that has inspired the pioneering spirit, and is home to the world’s first ever purpose-built motoring racetrack. Look around the place and you’ll even see some of the original curved banking and the finishing straight, which featured in the first British Grand Prix races way back in the 1920s. The museum buildings play host to many beautiful, historic cars, several of which were driven by genuine legends of the sport.

Brooklands was also the site of an important aerodrome and played an integral part in the early history of aviation in the UK.  There are a number of wonderful planes to explore here, including the legendary Concorde, perhaps the most famous passenger plane that the world has ever seen. Several superb machines can be found both outside in the aircraft park and inside in the flight shed.

This wonderful attraction brings you a unique opportunity to go back to the days when travel was exciting and glamorous, so make sure you don’t miss out on the fun. And when you need to have a pit-stop and refuel, be sure to seek out the lovely Sunbeam Café for some well-deserved refreshments. If you and the family have a shared interest in cars, planes or you just like finding out more about our heritage, Brooklands Museum is surely going to be a must-visit.
