There are times when it’s easy – far too easy, in fact – to miss one of the region’s hidden gams. If you’ve ever been in the heart of Chichester, you might find that you overlooked a lush, tranquil oasis that’s definitely worthy of exploration. Bishop’s Palace Gardens really do deserve to be on your must-visit list.

The gardens represent the best of both worlds, having recently had a major refurbishment but dating back to 1147, and it offers a much-needed oasis of contentment right in the middle of one of England’s most iconic cities. If you’re in need of a break from the shopping, the sightseeing or the socialising, you really couldn’t choose a more impressive location.

Bishop’s Palace Garden is home to seating, water features, a pergola walk and a wildlife-friendly area. It’s perfect for relaxation and reflection, and if you’re here in the summer you might want to bring a picnic and watch the world go by.
