Bentley Miniture Railway on Daze Out

Sometimes, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of riding on a steam railway, and at Bentley you can do so in a wonderfully scaled-down way. The fabulous Bentley Miniature Railway runs at weekends and school holidays in the summer, and it’s a popular attraction with young and old alike. The line itself is around a mile long, and it operates on a 7 ¼ inch gauge. As well as steam, there are also electric and internal combustion locomotives in operation here.

Bentley Miniature Railway is to be found on the Bentley Estate, which is located close to Halland in rural East Sussex. It’s within easy reach of Uckfield, Heathfield and Hailsham. The trains themselves and the track layout are iconic, and as you ride through the countryside you’ll see many wonderful vistas, including the chance to see the Bentley house, a beautiful Palladian inspiration.

As well as operating during most summer weekends, the volunteers also open the railway on themed days and other special occasions, such as their Easter Gala the September Family Fun Day. If you love the sight and sound of these glorious trains, and you love nothing more than eye-catching scenery, Bentley Miniature Railway is surely the place to be.
