Arlington Reservoir

Ideal for: Couples, Everyone, Families, Older Flyers, Physically Impaired, Solo Flyers
The perfect spot for peaceful walks accompanied by gorgeous views, head to Arlington Reservoir next time you need to get away from it all

Located close to Eastbourne and within easy reach of Brighton, Hastings and Hailsham, Arlington Reservoir is a local nature reserve that offers tranquillity and scenic beauty to visitors of all ages. It’s a popular spot for everything from lazy strolls to invigorating walks with the children, with friends, with the dog or simply on your own.

Birdwatchers, and even the casual observers, of course, have a chance to view a wide range of avian wildlife, including the likes of wigeon, shoveler, great crested grebe, Canada goose, kingfisher, barn owl and more. Beneath the water, bream, carp, perch, gudgeon, roach and eels are all common.

Arlington Reservoir was created in 1969 after damming on the river Cuckmere. It has a shoreline of almost three kilometres, so there’s plenty to see and enjoy here. The osprey walking route, which includes a bird hide, is a particular favourite. There are toilets on site, and there’s even a food kiosk for those times when you need a little sustenance.
