Tips & Planning for Visiting Pumpkin Patches
To make your visit smooth and enjoyable:
-
Book in advance when required. Many of the big events (Secretts, Garsons, Crockford Bridge etc.) require booking time-slots or tickets. Slots can sell out.
-
Check opening dates & times. Many patches run during October; some begin late September, others only later in the month.
-
Wear suitable clothing & footwear. Fields can be muddy, paths uneven. Wellies might be a good idea. Dress for the weather.
-
Bring your own tools / carriers if possible. Wheelbarrows may be provided but in limited numbers; bring a sturdy bag or box for pumpkins.
-
Check the dog policy ahead. If you have a dog, double check whether dogs are allowed in the field, or only in parts of the farm. Some places restrict them event-wide.
-
Arrive earlier in the day if possible. For better choices for pumpkins, fewer crowds, better light for photos.
-
Have cash and card. Some vendors may prefer or only take card, others might take cash. Best to have both.
