Clandon Park (National Trust)

Ideal for: Couples, Everyone, Families, Older Flyers, Physically Impaired, Solo Flyers
Step back in time for a unique glance into how life in Surrey was once lived. The Grotto and the Dutch Garden are among many fascinating highlights to be found here.

One of many Surrey attractions that offer a fascinating insight into the past, Clandon Park is popular with visitors who enjoy exploring the nation’s heritage. Clandon Park House, the building at the heart of the venue, is a shell of its former self, having been severely damaged in a fire in 2015, but remains of interest. The skeleton itself is open to the skies, and it provides an illustration of how the house was originally laid out and constructed.

The garden offers a chance to savour gentle strolls with all the family. Highlights include the lily pond in the Dutch Garden, the Grotto and the intriguing Hinemihi, a traditional Māori meeting house that was bought by William, 4th Earl of Onslow and shipped to the UK. It’s one of only four to be found outside of New Zealand, and it provides a chance to experience the unique atmosphere of such an important spiritual facility. There’s also a wooden playground that’s perfect for letting your little ones have some fun.

Clandon Park is located at West Clandon in Surrey, close to Guildford and within reach of London and Sussex. If you’re keen to find out more about its unique history, there are guided tours available on summer weekends.
