The sheer joy that photo opportunities in Sussex and Surrey can bring

Photo opportunities offer a great day out because they combine adventure and creativity. Exploring picturesque locations encourages outdoor activity and discovery, whether it’s urban landscapes, nature trails or cultural landmarks. Capturing moments through photography allows for artistic expression and the creation of lasting memories. It’s an engaging way to spend time with friends and family, fostering connections and shared experiences.

Additionally, photo outings can be educational, as they often involve learning about new places, historical sites and diverse environments. The joy of finding the perfect shot makes for a fulfilling and enjoyable day. And, perhaps most important of all, you really don’t have to be an expert photographer to capture impressive and beautiful images. Just point the camera, or the phone, and snap away. It really is that easy. Here at GoLark, we feel that days out in Surrey offer everyone a chance to take inspirational images, and here’s why.

Box Hill, as well as providing epic Surrey days out, offers stunning photo opportunities with its panoramic views, lush woodlands and scenic walking trails. Capturing the beauty of the North Downs is always a pleasure, thanks to the vibrant wildflowers and picturesque landscapes. Ideal for nature photography in particular, Box Hill provides diverse and breathtaking backdrops for memorable outdoor shots.

Adding more than a splash of colour!

Another Surrey gem is to be found at the wonderful Mayfield Lavender Farm. Beautiful images taken in lavender fields showcase vibrant purple hues and endless rows of fragrant blooms. The contrast of lavender against the sky can also create genuinely stunning visuals. These fields offer a dreamy, serene backdrop, perfect for capturing the essence of nature’s beauty and tranquility, making every photo enchanting and picturesque. Take a walk around Mayfield in July and the chances are you’ll see many, many people taking pictures.

Thanks to its rolling green hills, dramatic chalk cliffs and picturesque villages, the South Downs National Park is perfect for photographers of all standards. You can look to capture stunning vistas such as high ridges, ancient woodlands and serene coastal scenes. The diverse landscapes and vibrant flora and fauna make it a paradise for nature and landscape photographers. And of course, locations such as the Jill Windmill and the Chattri Memorial also offer exceptional Sussex days out.

The GoLark team likes nothing more than a day at the beach, especially of course when the skies are blue and the sun is shining above. There are a number of wonderful beaches across both East and West Sussex, many of which can inspire the most beautiful examples of waterfront photography. It’s difficult to say which of them is best, of course, but among the highlights you’ll find those at Lancing, Eastbourne, Brighton, Worthing, Goring and Hastings. There should be a special mention, too, to the spectacular Seven Sisters & Birling Gap; not technically a beach, particularly, but certainly a glorious photo opportunity.

Have fun snapping away, Larkers!
