The V of Trees

One of the nicest aspects of life in Sussex is the sheer quality of the walks that surround us. Whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll along an iconic beach, a day-long ramble through the picturesque countryside or anything in between, you’ll find it right here in this idyllic part of the country. 

Among the many popular photo opportunities to be seen in Sussex is the V of Trees, a dramatic location that dates back to 1887 and was created to commemorate Queen Victoria’s jubilee celebrations. It’s located close to Plumpton College, and is within easy reach of Hassocks, Lewis, Ditchling and Chailey. 

We at Go Lark love nothing more than heading off for a walk and enjoying a picnic under the shade of a tree, of course, but it’s worth noting that the best views of the V of Trees tend to be from a little further away. From wherever you happen to be, however, the walk to the V itself is extremely pleasant as you savour the delights of the South Downs National Park. As you get closer, the Jubilee Pathway at Westmeston will take you directly to the V.
