Hove Museum of Creativity

Ideal for: Everyone
A great place to find out more about Hove and its surroundings, the Hove Museum of Creativity is a favourite with young and old alike.

One of the most pleasing aspects of life in the south-east of England is the prevalence of local museums, and the Hove Museum of Creativity is surely one of the finest. It’s home to a number of fascinating exhibits, many of them focusing on arts and crafts. Perhaps the most popular part of the museum is the fabulous Wizard’s Attic, located upstairs and home to a fascinating collection of toys dating back to the 18th century, such as prams, construction toys, doll houses, farm animals, model planes and so much more.

Part of the Hove Museum of Creativity is dedicated to a time when both Hove and Brighton were popular locations in the early days of film-making. Items to be found here from cinema’s earliest times include film projectors and cameras, programmes, books, furniture, lanterns and photographs.

Hove has a unique character, and this is represented in the local history section, a place that’s of interest to locals and visitors alike. This gallery is laid out in chronological order, with some items going back to Roman times. Further along, you can find out more about its development into a busy residential town and seaside resort. Located in a splendid 19th-century villa, Hove Museum of Creativity is in New Church Road, just a short walk from the seafront and less than five minutes by car from the railway station.
